IMMC 2023 (GREATER CHINA) RESULTS RELEASED !
We are pleased to announce the results of the 9th Annual International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IM2C 2023) for the Region of Greater China (the Region).
Out of approximately 900 teams, 52 from the Region presented their solution papers on Regional-committee-set problems, Self-chosen problem, or International-committee-set problem in front of the Grand Jury on the Final Presentation Competition, April 28-29 2023, hosted by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology School of Science on the campus of Clear Water Bay. Together with teams endeavoring through rounds of contests of Autumn, Winter, International and the Final Presentation Competition, especially conquering the hardship of the Covid-19 pandemic, Shenzhen College of International Education, The Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, Diocesan Girls' School, Pui Kiu College (Hong Kong), Pui Ching Middle School(Macau), Macau Baptist College, Taipei Municipal Yongchun Senior High School among the 22 teams were granted the Outstanding Award for IMMC 2023 of Greater China, of which 11 teams in Regional Contest, and 11, International one. The team from Shanghai World Foreign Language Academy, Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong(Macau), and Shanghai High School International Division respectively won the Outstanding Award for the Junior High School category of IMMC Greater China.
IM2C 2023 in Greater China Region functioning as a selection mechanism for IM2C International Contest, is an independent and interdisciplinary practice integrating mathematics with science, technology and engineering and applying mathematics in socioeconomic context, and encouraging students to identify, analyze and solve real world problems of importance. We work with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE China) and Hong Kong Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (HKSIAM) to co-organize the IM2C 2023 in Greater China. The papers recognized as Outstanding and other award categories cover different types of problem including Smart delivery of books for campus library (Problem A-Autumn), Investigating the emergence of pathogen X (Problem B- Autumn), Is the roadside parking zone efficient? (Problem C- Autumn), Reducing cost of energy consumption through heat and cold storage (Problem D- Winter), How to distinguish biological species by numbers? (Problem E, Winter), Lifting Path Optimization for Hydraulic Crane (Problem F- Winter), and the International Problem, Using Land: A valuable resource (published on May1 2023) and problems self-chosen represent the best endeavors of the year. The 7 papers of International Contest in Greater China, are recommended by the IMMC Committee-Zhonghua for the Global Judgment by the International Expert Panel to compete for the international awards with the best teams from other more than 30 registered countries or areas.
Based on the judgment of Final Presentation by the Grand Jury and Paper Review by the Expert Panel through Autumn, Winter, and International Contest, all teams who had submitted successfully solution papers were awarded as Outstanding, Finalist, Meritorious, Honorable Mention, and Successful Participant. All teams will be informed by email individually and can view and download the award certificate by logging in the official website www.immchallenge.org.hk Teams winning Outstanding, Finalist and Meritorious are listed in the appendix.
